Undergraduate Philosophy

Undergraduate

Most departmental websites have comprehensive and detailed information about undergraduate studies in philosophy. Prospective philosophy students are advised to consult these before applying. The sites often have more general information about study resources, including essay writing, examination techniques, and helpful links to well-known internet resources, such as the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy and internet resources sites.

Undergraduates might also wish to consult the BPA’s page on Careers for Philosophy graduates for information on job prospects once they graduate.

Doing Philosophy

For students who are thinking about studying philosophy or have just embarked upon a philosophy degree, guidance and advice on what the discipline entails or how to get the most from your degree will be useful. A particularly rich resource for learning about how to do philosophy (including tips for how to read, discuss, and write philosophy) is both the book Doing Philosophy (edited by Danielle Lamb, David Mossley, George MacDonald Ross and Clare Saunders; Continuum).
