The BPA invites applications for its prize for individuals for teaching philosophy in schools. Nominees must either meet the eligibility criteria for academic philosophers stated in the Terms & Conditions or be employed as (or retired in the last 3 years from) a schoolteacher.
In no more than 750 words, the nominator should explain:
- the teaching in schools that has been carried out;
- the positive outcomes of that teaching.
Nominators should give a brief description of the candidate’s teaching activities. Evidence of excellence may come from candidate’s teaching, curriculum development, contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion, and training others to teaching philosophy at primary or secondary school levels of education. Positive outcomes seen in students may include, for example, improved achievement, love of philosophy, educational aspiration, behaviour, and self-confidence.
You will also need to provide the contact details of a referee for the nominee. The reference must be no more than 300 words and be sent by the referee to admin@bpa.ac.uk by the nomination deadline.
